Self-centering uncoiler 2 || Idea mechanisms #100243

Turn orange nut to move yellow bars radially for centering a coil (in
glass). Then the coil is turned for uncoiling. A brake drum on the pink
shaft end is for creating uncoil tension.
Here is applied slider crank mechanism (green cranks, violet conrods
and blue hub) to convert linear motion of the blue hub into rotary
motion of the green cranks.
Parallelogram mechanisms are used for keeping yellow bars parallel
to the pink shaft axis.
This uncoiler is for coils of large width.

Yellow cards in stack are dispensed one by one.
Input: pink cam shaft that gives green slider linear
reciprocating motion via blue follower of a small roller. Red
spring maintains contact of the roller and cam.
The lowest card is pushed by red pins (with the red spring
force) of the slider into space between two orange rollers. The latters pull the card out by
friction.
The clearance between the two rollers is set a little smaller than the card thickness.

Original project made with Autodesk Inventor 2014 as a Dynamic simulation. The action is due to a imposed motion applied to the (green) crank during 10 seconds. The curve of movement is accelerating from 0 to 30 rot/min (180 deg/s) in the first 2 seconds, and from 30 rot/min to 0 in the last 2 seconds.

This project emphasizes the forces implied in a moving mechanism.

The assembly contains a crank, two levers, two forks and a support. The compression springs are added to participate with other forces in system. A graph of forces in two junctions presents the evolution of forces. The two junctions are revolution type on the forks.

Input: orange bar.
All the gears have the same tooth number.
The gears are fixed to the bar of their colour.
Grey gear is fixed to the grey base.
Angles between adjacent bars are kept equal to the input angle
A during the motion.
If A = 90 deg., the four bars create a square.
If the bar number is n, the bars can create an equilateral polygon of n sides when A =
360/n.
This mechanism may be a solution for the London rolling bridge shown at

This is an industrial fish stick maker, called a "Portion Saw" frozen blocks of fish are cut into a portioned slab that then runs through this machine that is driven by 2 six inch linear pneumatic pistons that reciprocates to push the product through a series of table saw type blades. This machine makes the final determinning cut of the fish sticks width. (The other cuts are done through a series of band saws and "gang saws") All based on an international frozen fish block standard...

There is a large Delrin cover held down by De-Staco clamps to both hold down product and prevent hands from getting near the saw blades.



The product, once pushed off this machine (onto another conveyor) will be battered, breaded, deep fried, frozen, packaged, boxed and shipped to stores(or inventory) within the hour, producing some 5,000 pounds of product an hour...

Wrapping machine for torus-shaped products || Idea mechanisms #100226



The brown torus-shaped product is wrapped with green foil.
Input: orange pulley-roller of grey motor. Three other pulley-rollers
receive motion via black belts.
Violet ring carrying a foil coil rotates on orange, yellow and green
rollers (friction drives). The ring cut-off portion is for loading and
removing the product.
The product rotates thanks to two long brown rollers. The transmission for them is not
shown.

Pie throwing game || Idea mechanisms #100225

Game apparatus comprising a base supporting a vertical wall and
a chin rest for a player (on the left). The wall has an opening
facing the chin rest and an arm (in red) is pivotally supported on
the base on the side of the wall opposite the chin rest. The arm is
adapted to support a simulated pie. The player turns orange gear
and the arm randomly swings upwardly to throw the pie through
the opening in the vertical wall. The random happens due to the
interaction of the arm of a pink curved rib and a pink pin with 4
internal gear segments of different notch numbers (4, 5, 6 and 7 in this video) and 4
rectangular pins fixed on blue gear.
Once the curved rib enters the notch, a click sounds (under action of the green spring). So
in interval of two consecutive throwings may be 4, 5, 6, 7 clicks. It is extremely difficult to
guess the number of clicks that will take place after the pie is released before it will be
released again
